Jelly Bean 🪼 Free Pattern

✨ Meet Jelly Bean, the squishiest jellyfish you’ll ever crochet! 🪸💜 This free pattern is fun, no-sew, beginner-friendly, and perfect for adding a splash of ocean magic to your home. With her soft, wavy tentacles and adorable look, she’s sure to bring a smile to your face! Grab your hook, pick your favorite colors, and let’s get stitching! 💕

Materials

To make Jelly Bean, you’re going to need:

· Super Bulky (#6) chenille or blanket yarn in the color(s) of your choice. For reference, I used Bernat Blanket Ocean Waves as a main color and Pingo Chenille Vert d’Eau for the filaments as a contrasting color.

· Crochet hook compatible with the yarn of your choice. I suggest using a 5.5 mm hook with chenille yarn and a 6.0 mm with blanket yarn.

· 20 mm or 25 mm safety eyes, depending on your preference. I used 25 mm eyes for mine.

· Stuffing, tapestry needle, scissors, stitch marker.

In the Rnd: Repeat stitches in ( ) X number of times. Example: (1sc,1inc)x6= make1 single crochet and 1 increase a total of 6 times. At the end of each Rnd: The number in ( ) represents the total number of sts in that round.

Work in continuous spirals (rounds) unless instructed otherwise in the pattern.

Closing the last Rnd: Use a tapestry needle to go through the front loop of each st in the last rnd and pull yarn to close the opening. Secure and hide the tail.

Frill

Turn Jelly Bean upside down, attach yarn to the first FL of Rnd 16 with a slst.

FLO *Ch 1 and work (1 hdc, 1 dc) in each front loop all around (50)*

Finish with a slst in the 1st st, FO and weave in ends.

Curly Tentacles

You can make the tentacles in any colors you’d like, for my jellybean I used my main color for the curly tentacles and a contrasting color for the straight tentacles.

We’re going to make 3 curly tentacles evenly spaced from one another between Rnds 16-17. Attach yarn with a slst in a st, leaving a beginning tail.

*Ch 21, start working in the 2nd ch from the hook: (2 hdc in one ch, 3 hdc in the next ch)x5, (2 hdc in each ch)x10 (45)*

FO leaving a tail. Using a tapestry needle, attach tail to the next free st space of the body. Pull out in the same st as your beginning tail, tie a knot and hide both tails inside the body.

Repeat for the other 2 curly tentacles.

Straight Tentacles

Now we’re going to make 4 straight tentacles: 3 tentacles evenly spaced from one another, in between each curly tentacle; and 1 in the middle of the body (Rnd 17).

Attach yarn with a slst, leaving a beginning tail.

*Ch 23, start working in the 2nd ch from the hook: 1 slst in each ch (22).*

FO leaving a tail. Using a tapestry needle, attach tail to the next free st space of the body. Pull out in the same st as your beginning tail, tie a knot and hide both tails inside the body.

Repeat for the other 3 straight tentacles.

Optional: You can embroider some spots on the head using a contrasting color.
