Cali the Bear – Free Pattern (part 4) 🇺🇸/🇫🇷

🇺🇸 Good morning crochet friends! 

Are you ready to finish Cali the Bear? Today we’re going to make the embellishments (bow, blanket, heart patch etc) – which are all optional, assemble the bear and embroider the face. If you missed parts 1, 2 and 3, you can check them out here: Part 1 ; Part 2 ; Part 3.

🇫🇷 Bonjour les ami(e)s ! 

Êtes-vous prêts à finir Cali l’Oursonne ? Aujourd’hui nous arrivons à la dernière partie, et nous allons faire les petites décos (noeud, couverture, coeur etc), assembler Cali et broder le visage. Si vous avez loupé les parties 1,2 et 3, vous pouvez les retrouver ici : Partie 1 ; Partie 2 ; Partie 3.

Bow (optional)

Use the color of your choice.

In a MR: (4 ch, 3 tr, 4 ch, 1 slst in the MR) x2

Note: If you’re using a bulkier yarn, you can ch2 and make hdc instead of tr.

Skip the first ch, make 1 slst in the remaining 3-ch (3), inc sc in each tr from previous rnd (6), 3 slst in the first 3 ch (3), skip the last ch and finish with a slst in the center of the MR. Repeat the same steps on the other side.

FO and leave a long tail. Tightly wrap the yarn multiple times around the bow for the finishing touch.

Heart Appliqué (optional)

Use the color of your choice.

In a MR: 4 ch, 4 tr, 3 dc, 1 tr, 3 dc, 4 tr, 4 ch, 1 slst.

Close the MR.

3 slst in the 4ch from previous rnd, 3 sc inc, 4 sc, (1 sc, 2 ch, 1 sc) in the same stitch, 4 sc, 3 sc inc, 3 sc, 3 ch, 1 slst in the middle of MR.

FO and leave long tail for sewing.

Star Appliqué (optional)

Use the color of your choice.

Rnd 1) In a MR: 3 ch, 2 dc, 1 ch, (3 dc, 1 ch) x4, 1 slst in the 3rd ch from the beginning of the rnd. Pull the yarn to close the ring.

Rnd 2) Make 5 ch, skip 1 ch and make 1 sc, 1 hdc, 1 dc, 1 tr. Finish with 1 slst in the next ch space from the previous rnd (x5)

Rnd 3) 1 ch, 4 sc, [1 sc, 1 ch, 1 sc] in the same stitch, 4 sc, 1 slst in the slst from previous rnd.(x5)

FO and leave long tail for sewing.

Comfort Blanket (optional)

We are going to crochet the comfort blanket like a granny square. Use a 3mm hook and crochet loose stitches in order to keep the blanket soft. 

The 3-ch in the beginning of each rnd count as a stitch. 

Start with a MR: 

Rnd 1) 3 ch, 2 dc, (3 ch, 3 dc) x3 , 3 ch and 1 slst in the third ch of the beginning of the rnd and TURN. We are going to do the next stitches in the chain spaces from the previous rnds.

Rnd 2) (3 ch, 2 dc, 3 ch, 3 dc) in the same ch space, (2 ch / 3 dc in the next ch space, 3 ch, 3 dc in the same ch space)  x3 / 1 slst and TURN. 

Rnd 3) 3 ch, 2 dc, (2 ch / 3 dc, 3 ch, 3 dc in the same ch space /  2 ch / 3 dc) x3 / 2 ch / 3 dc, 3 ch, 3 dc in the same ch space / 2 ch / 1 slst and turn.

Rnd 4) 3 ch, 2 dc, (2 ch / 3 dc, 3 ch, 3 dc in the same ch space / 2 ch / 3 dc/ 2 ch / 3 dc) x3 / 2 ch / 3 dc, 3 ch, 3 dc in he same ch space / 2 ch / 3 dc/ 2 ch / 1 slst

Rnd 5) 3 ch, 2 dc/ 2 ch / 3 dc/ [2 ch, 3 dc, 3 ch, 3 dc in the same ch space, (2 ch, 3 dc x3)] x3 / 2 ch / 3 dc, 3 ch, 3 dc in the same ch space / 2 ch / 3 dc/ 2 ch / 1 slst. Turn.

Rnd 6) 3 ch, 2 dc [(2 ch, 3 dcx4), 3 dc, 3 ch, 3 dc in the same ch space] x3 / 2 ch, 3 dc x2 / 1 slst. Turn

Rnd 7) 3 ch, 2 dc, (2 ch, 3 dc x2), [3 dc, 3 ch, 3 dc in the same ch space, (2 ch, 3 dc x5)] x3 / 3 dc, 3 ch, 3 dc in the same ch space / 2 ch, 3 dc x2 / 1 slst. Fasten off and weave in end.

In a nutshell: From the 3rd rnd on, start each rnd with 3 ch, 2 dc. Make 2 ch to move onto the next space and make 3 dc in each ch space. Repeat until you get to a corner. Corner: make [3 dc, 3 ch, 3 dc] in the same ch space and continue with 2 ch to move onto the next ch space. Close the rnd with 1 slst and turn. Repeat until you reach the desired size.

Detail of the blanket: 

Attach the yarn of your choice in one of the corners. I chose a different, lighter color to make the detail.  

Rnd 1) Make 5 ch and 1 slst in the ch spaces of the cloth. Repeat until end of rnd.

Rnd 2) Working in the ch spaces from previous rnd: make [3 sc, 2 ch, 3 sc] in each ch space along the edge.

Sewing the Shape Appliqué (heart or star)

Turn the square in oder to have a diamond-shaped blanket. Place the heart or star appliqué on the bottom, the top corner will be attached to the bear.

Sew the appliqué on the blanket using a tapestry needle. Pass the needle inside the dc from the blanket so the seam is invisible from the back. FO and weave in end.

Assembly

ARMS – Sew arms between rows 28 and 29, on the sides of the body.

Use a pin to place and secure the ears and the muzzle before sewing them to the body. In order to make instructions easier, we’re going to count the rows starting from the top of the head.

EARS – Place the ears on the sides of the head. We are going to use the first stitches on each side of the ear to guide us. The right side should be on row 6 and the left side of row 11.

MUZZLE – Place the top to the muzzle on row 15 and the bottom on row 22. Make sure the muzzle is in the on the middle of the face. Add some fiberfill to make the nose stick out a little bit before you finish sewing it.

BOW – Sew bow on the head, next to one of the ears.

BLANKET: To sew blanket and the bear together, fold the upper corner of the blanket and attach a long piece of yarn of the same color.  Insert needle under the arm of the bear, count 2 sts and pull out needle. Go over those stitches (blanket + arm) a few times. FO and weave in ends.

Embroidery

Use black cotton yarn or embroidery thread.

Embroider the eyes on row 14, one row above the muzzle. Leave 7 stitches between the eyes, and align the inner corners of the eyes with the sides of the muzzle.

Insert needle in the head and start from the inner corner of the eye. Count 5 stitches, insert the needle.

Pull out the needle 2 rows below and 3 stitches to the side, the thread needs to be a bit loose. Next, pass the needle under the thread and insert it again in the exact same stitch.

Count 2 stitches towards the outer corner of the eye and pull out the needle. Again, pass the needle under the thread and insert it back in the same stitch.

Pull out your needle one row above the previous stitch, parallel to the thread. Pass the needle under the thread and insert it back in the same stitch.

Repeat the same steps on the other side. Pull out in the same st as beginning tail, tie a know with both tails and hide them inside the head. You can add little cheeks with pink yarn in the space of 2 sts, 1 rnd below the eyes.

🇫🇷 Cali Partie 4

Noeud (optionnel)

Utiliser la couleur de votre choix. dB = double bride

 Dans un CM: (4 ml, 3 dB, 4 ml, 1 mc) x2

Note: Si vous utilisez un fil bulky, vous pouvez faire 2 ml et 3 db à la place des dB.

Sauter la première ml, faire 1 mc dans chaque ml (3), 1 aug ms dans chaque dB du rang précédant (6), 3 mc dans les 3 premières ml (3), sauter la dernière ml et finir avec une mc dans le milieu du CM. Refaire la même chose de l’autre côté. 

Couper et laisser env 40 cm de fil. Enrouler le fil au milieu du nœud plusieurs fois pour finir.

Applique Coeur (optionnel)

Utiliser la couleur de votre choix. dB = double bride

Dans un CM: 4 ml, 4 dB, 3 B, 1 dB, 3 B, 4 dB, 4 ml, 1 mc.

Fermer le CM et continuer avec 3 mc dans les 4ml du début (sauter la première), 3 aug ms, 4 ms, (1 ms, 2 ml, 1 ms) dans la même maille, 4 ms, 3 aug ms, 3 ms, 3 ml, 1 mc dans le centre du CM.

Couper le fil et laisser une longueur pour l’assemblage.

Applique Étoile (optionnel)

Utiliser la couleur de votre choix. dB = double bride

Tr 1) Dans un CM : 3 ml, 2 B, 1 ml, (3 B, 1 ml) x4, 1 mc dans la troisième ml du début du rang. Tirer le fil pour fermer le cercle. 

Tr 2) 5 ml, sauter 1ml et faire: 1 ms, 1 db, 1 B, 1 dB dans les ml suivantes. Finir avec 1 mc dans l’espace de ml du rang précédant (x5)

Tr 3) 1 ml, 4 ms, [1 ms, 1 ml, 1 ms] dans la même maille (pointe), 4 ms, 1 mc dans la mc du rang précédant. (x5)

Couper le fil et laisser une longueur pour l’assemblage. 

Couverture (optionnel)

Crocheter come un granny square. Utiliser un crochet de 3mm sans trop serrer les mailles pour que le doudou reste souple. 

Les 3ml au début de chaque tour comptent comme une maille.

Commencer dans un CM :

Rang 1) 3 ml, 2 B, (3 ml, 3 B) x3 , 3 ml et 1 mc dans la troisième ml du début. TOURNER. Tirer le fil pour fermer le CM. 

Nous allons désormais travailler dans les espaces des ml.

Rang 2) 3 ml, 2 B, 3 ml, 3 B dans le même espace, (2 ml pour avancer jusqu’au prochain espace, 3 B, 3 ml, 3 B dans le même espace) x3 / 1 mc et TOURNER.  

Rang 3) 3 ml, 2 B,(2 ml / 3 B, 3 ml, 3 B dans le même espace /  2 ml / 3 B) x3 / 2 ml / 3 B, 3 ml, 3 B dans le même espace / 2 ml / 1 mc et TOURNER.

Rang 4) 3 ml, 2 B, (2 ml / 3 B, 3 ml, 3 B dans le même espace / 2 ml / 3 B/ 2 ml / 3 B) x3 / 2 ml / 3 B, 3 ml, 3 B dans le même espace/ 2 ml / 3 B/ 2 ml / 1 mc. TOURNER

Rang 5) 3 ml, 2 B / 2 ml / 3 B/ [2 ml, 3 B, 3 ml, 3 B dans le même espace, (2 ml, 3 B x3)] x3 / 2 ml / 3 B, 3 ml, 3 B dans le même espace / 2 ml / 3 B/ 2 ml / 1 mc. TOURNER.

Rang 6) 3 ml, 2 B [(2 ml, 3 B x4), 3 B, 3 ml, 3 B dans le même espace] x3 / 2 ch, 3 B x2 / 1 mc. TOURNER. 

Rang 7) 3 ml, 2 B, (2 ml, 3 B x2), [3 B, 3 ml, 3 B dans le même espace, (2 ml, 3 B x5) ]x3 / 3 B, 3 ml, 3 B dans le même espace / 2 ml, 3 B x2 / 1 mc. Couper le fil.

Simplifié: À partir du troisième rang, commencer chaque rang avec 3 ml et 2B, avancer jusqu’au prochain espace avec 2 ml, faire 3 B dans chaque espace de ml du rang précédant. Quand vous arrivez dans un coin, faire (3 B, 3ml, 3 B) dans le même espace et continuer avec 2 ml pour avancer. Fermer avec 1 mc et tourner. Répéter jusqu’à obtenir la taille désirée.

Finitions: 

Attacher le fil de votre choix dans un coin. J’ai choisi une couler plus claire pour faire les finitions. 

1 – Faire 5 ml et les attacher avec 1 mc dans l’espace des ml du rang précédant. Répéter jusqu’à faire le tour complet de l’ouvrage. (photo 21)

2 – Travailler dans les espaces des 5 ml. Faire [3 ms, 2 ml, 3 ms] dans chaque espace jusqu’à faire tout le tour. Couper et cacher le fil. 

Coudre l’Applique (coeur ou étoile)

Tourner le carré pour utiliser la couverture en forme de losange. Placer l’applique en bas, le haut sera attaché à l’ours. 

Coudre l’applique avec une aiguille à laine. Passer l’aiguille à l’intérieur des B de la couverture pour que la couture ne soit pas visible du côté envers.

Assemblage

BRAS – Coudre les bras sur les côtés du corps, entre les Trs 28 et 29.

Utiliser des épingles pour placer les oreilles et le museau avant de les coudre définitivement. Pour faciliter l’assemblage, nous allons compter les rangs à partir du haut de la tête. 

OREILLES – Placer les oreilles sur les côtés de la tête. Nous allons nous guider par les deux côté ouverts de l’avant. Fixer le côté droit sur le Tr 6 et le côté gauche sur le Tr 11. Coudre l’oreille sur la tête.

MUSEAU – Placer le haut du museau sur le Tr 15 et le bas sur le Tr 22. Vérifier que le museau est bien centré sur le visage. Avant de finir de coudre, rembourrer légèrement. 

NOEUD – Coudre le nœud sur la tête, devant une oreille.

COUVERTURE – Plier le coin supérieur et attacher un morceau de fil de la même couleur. Ensuite, piquer l’aiguille sous le bras de l’ours et la sortir 2 mailles plus loin. Passer l’aiguille entre les mailles de la couverture et les mailles du bras plusieurs fois en tirant bien fort. Couper et cacher le fil.

Broderie

Utiliser un fil en coton noir ou un fil à broder.

Broder les yeux sur le Tr 14, un tr au-dessus du museau. Laisser 7 mailles entre les yeux et aligner les coins intérieurs avec les côtés du museau. 

Insérer l’aiguille dans la tête et commencer par le coin intérieur de l’oeil. Compter 5 mailles et insérer l’aiguille. 

Sortir l’aiguille 2 trs plus bas et 3 mailles sur le côté. Passer l’aiguille sous le fil et repiquer dans la même maille.

Compter 2 mailles vers l’extérieur de l’oeil et sortir l’aiguille. Passer l’aiguille sous le fil et repiquer dans la même maille.

Sortir l’aiguille 1 rang au dessus, parallèle au fil. Passer l’aiguille dans le fil et repiquer dans la même maille.

Répéter les étapes pour faire le 2ème oeil. À la fin, ressortir avec la pointe de départ, faire un noeud avec les deux fils et les cacher dans la tête. Vous pouvez également broder des joues dans l’espace de 2 m, 1 tr en dessous des yeux.
