Snowman Ornament – Free Pattern

I hope you are all doing well and feeling all the Christmas vibes. It’s really great to have all of you here.
Today we’ll continue our series of Plush Christmas Ornaments with the Snowman ☃️

Materials
Super Bulky chenille yarn (weight 6) in: white, black, orange, and contrast color of your choice (for top hat detail)
5mm and 6mm hooks
10mm safety eyes
Fiberfill
Scissors, stitch markers, tapestry needle
Blush for the cheeks (optional)
Black cotton yarn for embroidery
Thread in the color of your choice to hang the ornament
Abbreviations
MR: magic ring
FO: fasten off
CC: color change
st: stitch
rnd: round
ch: chain
sl-st: slip stitch
sc: single crochet
inc: increase
dec: invisible decrease
BLO: back loops only
FLO: front loops only
Notes
This pattern is written in U.S terminology. You can use any yarn weight or type, adapt your hook size accordingly.
Closing the last rnd: Using a tapestry needle, go though the front loop of each st in the last rnd and pull yarn to close. Make a little knot in one of the sts and hide the tail.
I’m a lefty! If you’re right-handed, you’ll notice that some of my pictures may look inverted when compared to your work.

Head – use white and a 6mm hook
Rnd 1) 6 sc in a MR (6)
Rnd 2) 6 inc (12)
Rnd 3) (1 sc, 1 inc)x6 (18)
Rnd 4) (2 sc, 1 inc)x6 (24)
Rnd 5-10) 24 sc around (24) [6 rnds]
Rnd 11) (2 sc, 1 dec)x6 (18)
Insert safety eyes between rnds 6-7, leave 3 free sts between the eyes.
Rnd 12) (1 sc, 1 dec)x6 (12)
Stuff firmly
Rnd 13) 6 dec (6)
FO and close the last rnd. Weave in tail.

Hat – use black, contrast color and a 5mm hook
Start with black yarn
Rnd 1) 8 sc in a MR (8)
Rnd 2) 8 inc (16)
Rnd 3) BLO 16 sc around (16)
Rnds 4-6) 16 sc around (16) [3 rnds]
Change to contrast color, do not FO black yarn
Rnd 7) 16 sl-st around (16)
Rnd 8) BLO 16 sc around (16)
FO contrast color, change to black
Rnd 9) 16 sl-st around (16)
Rnd 10) FLO (1 sc, 1 inc)x8 (24)
Rnd 11) 24 sc around (24)
FO and leave a long tail for sewing. Stuff lightly.

Carrot Nose – use orange and a 5mm hook
Turn the head upside down and insert you hook horizontally between rnds 7-8, between the eyes. Attach yarn with a sl-st, leave a beginning tail.
1) Ch3, starting in the 2nd ch from the hook, make 1 sl-st, 1 sc (2)
FO and leave a tail.
Using a tapestry needle, insert needle in the next free st of the face and pull out with beginning tail. make a knot with both tails and hide them inside the head.


Assembly
Hat: Sew rnd 10 of the hat on the head, a little tilted to the side.

Eyebrows: Use black cotton yarn to embroider the eyebrows diagonally on rnds 5-6, in the space of 2 sts.

Mouth: Embroider a mouth 1 rnd below the nose (rnd 8): make a straight line in the space of 7 sts, pull out your needle 1 rnd below (rnd 9) in the middle, pass needle under the thread and insert it back in the same st. You can make little two little diagonal lines at the ends of the smile in the space of 1 st.



Add blush to the cheeks.
Thread: Cut a piece of thread in the color of your choice and attach it to the inner corner of the hat), the ornament should stay straight when you hold it by the thread. Make a knot and trim the ends.
